From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Interesting. Wonder if this will end up inspiring better mobile clients.

KDE already has a mobile Matrix client, NeoChat.

How good is it in supporting bridges?

[–] Strit@lemmy.linuxuserspace.show 18 points 5 months ago

Not sure what you mean. The protocol supports the bridge, not the client.

You mean Android or Linux mobile, because rewrite of Element for Android is looking very good.

[–] sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al 4 points 5 months ago

Android. I didn't know that a rewrite of Element was underway. That's good news. That said, Android definitely needs alternatives

Fractal works pretty well on mobile

[–] haui_lemmy@lemmy.giftedmc.com 1 points 5 months ago

Fractal works okay but doesnt have half the functionality of fluffychat and element.

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 1 points 5 months ago

That's good

I wonder what the impact of this will be 🤔 They can only make decisions? Or does that mean KDE and Gnome have or already have their own Matrix servers?
