My first try took 36 questions. It's first guess was wrong.
2nd attempt:
I picked Sparks from Sealab.
3rd attempt The Noid, guessed on second try.
4th attempt the Lady in the Radiator, guessed on third try.
This is fun!
5th attempt stumped it again with Walter Kramitz from Big Trouble! It got close with Officer Slater from Superbad.
So pick a minor character in an obscure story.
How do you stump it?
I just played a few rounds. It correctly guessed, on its first try:
- Twilight Sparkle (it really rubbed my nose in that one -- "Is your character associated with My Little Pony?" [Yes] "Does your character have a horn?" [Yes] "Does your character have a pet dragon?" [Yes] "Does your character like to read books?" [Bro just admit you know who it is])
- Spyro the Dragon
- Spyro's sidekick Sparks the Dragonfly
- Honey the Cat, an unused playable character hidden in the game files from the little known arcade game Sonic the Fighters
- Jewel the Beetle, a character who only appears in the most recent Sonic the Hedgehog comic books, and even then infrequently
I think the character was obscure enough. I thought it had me on it's third try when it asked if my character wore a headset, but then it went down the wrong path.
Weirdly, he's refused to guess Elbereth Gilthoniel (Varda) twice last night, both times guessing Yavanna instead I think the problem is a little deeper.
I picked a character from a book and it only really seemed to know, like, the misfits and to kill a mockingbird. It didn’t even come close, and I gave it four tries before it started asking nonsensical questions that contradicted previous questions. Like I told it he was a character from a book and by question, like, 54 it was circling all the way back to “is this character a girl” and “is this a character from a first person shooter.”
My character was from an author that won the Nobel prize for literature, Ishiguro. I went with Ryder from The Unconsoled. The machine was nowhere close. I’m gonna pick a less obscure character, see what happens.
Edit: yeah, it didn’t get the main character from a Netflix show. How are you not stumping it? I mean, it does seem geared toward kinda anime/pop shows, maybe that?
It just got Moist von Lipvig (from a few of the later Discworld novels) and Ryland Grace (the protagonist of Project Hail Mary, a spiritual sequel to The Martian, by Andy Weir), and Senshi from Dungeon Meshi, all first try.
What are you feeding it?
EDIT: Just stumped it with Florence Ambrose from Freefall. It did guess Natani from TwoKinds (who is also an anthropomorphic wolf from a lesser known webcomic) while it was trying though.

It just failed to guess Florence Ambrose though (even though that was already in its database) so I at least get to win one round.
It's honestly kind of sad watching Akinator struggle.
I tried changing my answer and the bastard still got it.
Are we talking about the same Akinator? In my experience, it used to be great, but has been dogshit for years.
