tbh quite weird to leave safe money on the table when you have a popular, finished game you could add a DLC or two for fraction of the cost of creating a new game
The alterative is a game studio milks an IP for everything it's worth like... Everybody else
It's not exactly safe money when you're spending well deserved good will continuing to work with a company that is self-destructing it's own good will. They're quitting while they're FAR ahead.
