This place is a message…and part of a system of messages…pay attention to it!

Sending this message was important to us. We considered ourselves to be powerful culture.

This place is not a place of honor…no highly esteemed deed is commemorated here…nothing valued is here.

What is here was dangerous and repulsive to us. This message is a warning about danger.

The danger is in a particular location…it increases towards a center…the center of danger is here…of a particular size and shape, and below us.

The danger is still present, in your time, as it was in ours.

The danger is to the body, and it can kill.

The form of the danger is an emanation of energy.

The danger is unleashed only if you substantially disturb this place physically. This place is best shunned and left uninhabited

The above was a message that was intended to be conveyed, nonverbally in various forms of supremely hostile architecture, as well as intelligible pictograms.

The intent was to warn people for 100,000 years to stay away from various sites, and we can only assume that language with revolve or just changed to the point that writing would not be helpful.

The current situation with various social media platforms, maybe think about how way way way in the future what is the primary waste was, in fact, intellectual?

What is the ultimate warfare turned out to be mimetic thought killer audiograms that we just enter your brain in either make you kill yourself or call you to destroy your own civilization.

Many people in far future RPG could use a concept of waste sites, or like prisons for estimate for entities as dungeons z

Honestly, that’s often trooper fantasy Dungeons you should not be here in this place people you have trespassed.

So I made this mean. I’d love everybody to share how you’ve used like mental dangerous in Dungeons or possibly as treasurer as weapons.

TFW you realize why Eclipse Phase is called Eclipse Phase.

And yes, the players still ignore the warnings….

Oooh! Please speak to me of Eclipse Phase !

I’ve heard very good things that I’ve never check it out at all these years. It’s trans humanism with a horror spin right?

Like is Eclipse some kind of terrible nano mental plague?

I will say that there are some games were going places, but you should not be going is the entire premise.

Golgotha takes place in a far future post scarcity economy. The players dive into for bidden precursor tombs because they wouldn’t be uplifted so they can get revenge or some other narrative goal, because nothing would be worth it just for money.

Thank you so much for your comments! Please, I’d love to hear some stories from your game.

Apologies for the delay in replying - I'm recovering from an illness that prevented me from sleeping for a week.

Eclipse Phase is indeed the happy fun game of Transhuman survival and horror. The name comes from the virology concept of the Eclipse Phase of an infection where a cell has been infected but hasn't started producing copies of the virus yet.

It's that ambiguity that is one of the themes of the setting, and there's a lot of setting. the background is so deep that no matter what crazy choices my players make I can bring in something bigger and crazier.

The one example I can think of that I can share publicly is from a situation where my group had gotten themselves into an unnecessary fight and one of them managed to defend themselves poorly enough to get captured.

The antagonists were Jovians, which in Eclipse Phase are an amalgamation of conservative Catholicism, an average Fox viewer and the remainder of North and South American military forces post-apocalypse.

The Jovians are **not ** fans of fun transhuman technologies like mind uploading, body swapping, and uplifted creatures. The group faced an uphill battle to retrieve their friend and had to call in favors with a shadowy and sinister group to get aboard the Jovian habitat.

The rescue party wakes up in the bodies of paramilitary thugs and set off to rescue their friend. So far, so good. Oh, but wait - the people whose bodies they've snatched are getting tasked to commit a hate crime at a government contractor using enslaved uplifted Octopi.

If they don't blow up the innocents, they'll be exposed. If they do blow them up, they're kill a dozen innocent people - people without brain backups.

The players really engaged with the moral dilemma, so I threw them a bone by having one of the Octopi be an Anarchist/Mercurial infiltrator. They explained to the group that they'd be doing them a real solid if they subdued the human overseers and swapped their minds out for the Octopi before blowing the place up.

All's well that ends with the right people murdered, I guess. The actually ended up getting a decent rep boost in Anarchist circles out of the deal.
