Really recommend the read.
I like the bit about Jericho. IMO, he’s right about how people have forgotten how important Jericho was at the start because of the fatigue around his storylines (and/or his opinions).
I’d only gotten back into wrestling for a couple years when aew was announced. A friend had gushed about Kenny in njpw and I saw comments about The Elite online. I’d never heard of Hangman. I missed PAC’s run in wwe but had heard enough to be interested in seeing him. I was open to checking out a new promotion, but was going in really fresh and didn’t know anyone really.
And then Jericho was at that press conference. The dude I’d watched as a kid in wcw. The dude I loved to play as (or as Psychosis) on N64. My friend had shown me clips from Jericho v Omega, so I knew he could still go. It brought a lot of legitimacy to aew for me and I started getting excited.
Heck, Jericho helped Hangman a lot in my eyes in the early days. I was like “who the heck is this guy?” when Hangman won that first battle royal. By the time he faced Jericho, I got him and liked him.
Anyway, fun read. I like when people who aren’t professional writers just write like they talk. I could hear MJF saying all that in my head.

It's why Mox's book is so fucking good, you hear him reading it to you cause of how he writes (and then hear him read it to you literally with the audiobook rofl)
But I agree. Like..I hate Chris Irvine for a variety of reasons, but his work as Chris Jericho?. I can't say anything bad. The man is an unrecognized hall of famer, he's wrestled everywhere, he's held titles all over, as you said the second he walked out there at the announcement conference AEW immediately gained legitimacy by virtue of his presence. This wasn't gonna be some hodunk podunk yeehaw bullshit, it was going to be a legit company.
I’ve been waiting a year now in hopes that Mox’s book will show up in my library on the Libby app. Think I’m gonna have to stop waiting. Lol
@kessleragain @GeekFTW I'd recommend the audiobook if you can get it. Mox narrates it himself and it's like listening to an overextended promo.
That is a brilliant read. The more I get to know the true MJF, the more I love him.
He is, and always will be, my scumbag.
@GeekFTW these pieces are always tremendous. I was cheering on Eddie Kingston to beat Punk and become World Champion after reading his a couple of years back.
