They figure they'll be dead by the time the consequences become inescapable, and don't care about anyone else including their own children.
Climate change will do this.

I caved, and watered a little bit over the course of the past two weeks (mostly when watering the garden, potted herbs & tomatoes in the backyard). Thankfully with that rainfall from a few days back, I'll probably mow the lawn tomorrow...first time in at least three weeks.
This is unfortunate.
Side question: Are these global maxima more likely in the Northern Hemisphere summer time because 2/3 of the world's landmass is in the NH?
That'll teach that earth.
