I am currently working on a game I was told by one friend to use the language I am most comfortable in. However others have criticised me for not using their preferred language or environment.

Should I switch or keep going?

Finish the game, doesn't matter how.

If you're serious about making games, it won't be your last one, so you'll have many more chances to try other languages, engines, environments or whatever.
