Hi guys, I heard some news about DC doing another reboot of the universe and restoring it to pre-crisis (like, pre-original crisis on infinite earths) status, so I decided to get back up to speed on the current goings-on, since I kind of dropped off after New 52.

I decided to pick it back up after researching what that whole Metal thing was about. I read Death Metal (which was NUTS and awesome), and now I'm moving on to New Frontier, I think. Hopefully I get caught up soon.

What are your impressions of DC lately?

As much as I love DC they are really going over the top with crisis level events. In the last few years we had metal, doomsday clock, death metal and dark crisis. They have all been fun events but Its hard to keep track with the multi/metaverse changing every year or two.

I haven’t heard about DC going back to pre-crisis, but I think everything is canon again due to some event (maybe infinite frontier or death metal). I think DC are too focused on crossovers and crisis level events, they need to focus on smaller scale down to earth stories. All that said I’m currently really enjoying the current Nightwing and Shazam runs!

Nice! I believe that Dark Crisis (On Infinite Earths) is the latest one that makes basically everything canon, but returns the characters to their pre-Original Crisis characters? But then what happens to characters that were created post-crisis? Like, I really am liking Superman's kid Jon and Batman's kid robin as well.

I feel like this might be the start of them letting things get back to single-character story arcs. I like that they're opening things up to an infinite multiverse now too, though. Not just "52" universes.

I'll have to check out Nightwing and Shazam. I've never been big on Nightwing before, but it might be time for me to give him a chance. Shazam too.

Haha maybe it was dark crisis that changed canon, theres so many I loose track of the continuity changes. I dont think it affects and of the post-crisis characters as Damian and Jon are still alive and well in the current ongoings. I think they just merged the backstories of all the other characters with their pre-crisis versions. I'm definitely a big fan of having more universes, I find elseworld/non-canon stories are often better than prime earth stories.

I recommend that you give nightwing a shot, I've never been big on him either but Dark Crisis really piqued my interest in him and the current ongoing is fun. Same with Shazam its a fun low-stakes story.

Awesome. I just read Bendis' Man Of Steel for the first time and I think he did an okay job. I'm intrigued about how the heck Jor El is alive though. I need to read whatever books came after that.
