I think it depends on the instance, I find lots of vitriol comments on lemmy.world.

I noticed OP is a beehaw user, so they're probably shielded from a lot of the active vitriol we see here.

The more people there are on an instance, the more probability for those comments to happen. But it also depends on its rules, its admins, and their way to apply those rules.

Right? I don't think I've seen a single thread here that doesn't have an active fight brewing in it. Not to mention lemmy doesn't hide that shit like reddit did. Sometimes the active fights and vitriolic comments are the top post.
