It does make me wonder though sometimes, my feed is nothing but these kinds of memes being repeated daily...

Meme communities are by far the most popular on the site, and will likely remain very popular at the least as it grows. Lots of other content is out there, but you have to curate your subscriptions and use that view to not have it drowned out.
