i want the fediverse as a whole to pull a tumblr and just make any attempts for companies to enter the space and monetize things to be met with such immense hostility, that companies see entering the fediverse as a potential PR nightmare waiting to happen. like can you imagine, starbucks tries to join the fediverse and everyone just starts using it for union organizing lmao

FTFY. It's FOSS. We can't stop them from spinning up their own instances (See: Threads) but that doesn't mean we have to play nicely with them.
