I've tried dumbphones, but frankly most of them are a bit too dumb for how I live my life in 2023. This won't work for everyone but I've personally found that a cellular Apple Watch strikes a nice balance for me - I can still access all the essentials I use daily like calls, messages, maps, timers, music, podcasts, Apple Pay etc but without any of the distractions of my phone. The caveat is that you do need an iPhone to set it up, but this gives me the flexibility of leaving my phone at home when I want to while still having the convenience of a smartphone when I need it.

As a non-exerciser, this is the most compelling use case for an Apple Watch I've yet come across.

It's one that not a lot of people consider when looking to replace their smartphone with something that respects their time and attention span, which surprises me. This is the main scenario the cellular model was designed for imo.
