What makes this further interesting is that the lemmy back end and front end are actually two different stacks so theoretically anyone can make a front end to their liking.
How is that interesting?
The front end being decoupled from the backend means updating the server doesn't require getting a crappier front end experience if someone wants to build a different UI.
I don't know how that makes the frustration of someone trying to use lemmy as a hub for a community of users interesting.
It's interesting in its technical aspects.
