RULES (updated 01/22/25)

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling. To be concise, disrespect is defined by escalation.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible. You won't be punished for trying.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (politics or societal debates come to mind, though we are not saying not to talk about anything that resembles these). There's a guide in the protocol book offered as a mod model that can be used for that; it's vague until you realize it was made for things like the rule in question. At least four purple answers must apply to a "controversial" message for it to be allowed.
  4. Keep it clean and SFW: No illegal content or anything gross and inappropriate. A rule of thumb is if a recording of a conversation put on another platform would get someone a COPPA violation response, that exact exchange should be avoided when possible.
  5. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc. The chart redirected to above applies to spam material as well, which is one of the reasons its wording is vague, as it applies to a few things. Again, a "spammy" message must be applicable to four purple answers before it's allowed.
  6. Respect privacy as well as truth: Don’t ask for or share any personal information or slander anyone. A rule of thumb is if something is enough info to go by that it "would be a copyright violation if the info was art" as another group put it, or that it alone can be used to narrow someone down to 150 physical humans (Dunbar's Number) or less, it's considered an excess breach of privacy. Slander is defined by intentional utilitarian misguidance at the expense (positive or negative) of a sentient entity. This often links back to or mixes with rule one, which implies, for example, that even something that is true can still amount to what slander is trying to achieve, and that will be looked down upon.

I have long had a need to have this kind of private hiding place that no one knows about and they can never find me even if they really want.

I have such an old shed thingy where I sometimes go and close myself up for a day and just enjoy being out of everything and anyone’s reach.

Sometimes it’s low key scary because let’s say something happened to me then no one would ever find out but such is life eh.

Such hiding spot is very good for my mental health as whenever pressure gets too high I just disappear.

People may not understand why or why would I do it this way but I don’t try to explain or elaborate. Obviously I pick up the phone and tell them some lie that I am shopping or whatever and will be later or something important showed up thought it would be nice if they didn’t call either.

My car kind of functions in this capacity. I like to find little city parks that are unoccupied, empty parking lots by vacant stores, maybe a random cul de sac. I like to look on Google maps for promising spots. I will bring or stop by a convenience store to load up on snacks. I might bring my crochet project. Roll the windows down. Or play podcasts. My rolling hidey hole.

Car for me is nice as a form of travel vs public transport for this reason but it is not enough safe. Sure I can lock it up but still there’s still too thin barrier vs outside world.

I still look at my pepper gas location and check surroundings periodically or if the belongings aren’t super easy to catch

It’s great for transport though even if I need to look for parking spot super hard sometimes or get into a traffic jam

I think i figured out you meant gps location, but I'm having trouble understanding "belongings aren't super easy to catch"

Each of us will find comfort in different things. I like looking at the outside world, having no one else around, having a comfy seat (which is a sporty kind of styling so it indeed wraps me like a hug), and if ideal conditions change at where I'm parked I can just move along to another spot until I'm ready to face whatever it is that I'm avoiding.

I mean that there are these people that will steal stuff from your car backseats by breaking a window whether you are in the car or not
