More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Quick calculation: that’s ~£98.3k per person in the Thames Valley area.

Thames Valley area

Just FYI: Thames water covers a larger population than that. Much of London is not technically in the Thames valley.

EDIT: I'll add. It's anecdotal, as I can't remember when or where I read it. But I seem to remember a Thames water complaint a good while back. That much of the older London area they cover has not been worked on for over 100 years. And is listed such that the cost is beyond them.

Not sure if I buy it given modern techniques etc. But I'm no expert.

You’re absolutely right. Thames water claim 16 million customers, so that brings it down to a much more manageable £14,375 per customer, based on us getting shafted equally.

Huge saving. LOL, a bit like saying don't worry your only going to die of a bullet, we save the rockets for the big boys.
