General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Tends to happen when you knowingly break the law

How fucking smug. If only we were all as brave as you.

I don't agree with their methods or their objectives, so I don't see anything to praise here as 'brave'.

you don't agree with their objective of protesting sale of drones to the IDF?

[–] Streamwave@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

No. I want the IDF to be given the weapons to finish off Hamas. The Palestinians have no future while Hamas rules in Gaza, and the IDF are the only military force in the world with both the capacity and motivation to destroy Hamas - it certainly won't come from Palestinians themselves. Israel can't plausibly be expected to allow Gaza or the West Bank to become a state if that means Hamas coming to power.

I see... so this isn't really about the law, it's about the values that you think those laws uphold.

What Israel is doing is in violation of several international laws. Couldn't one say that protests like these are what "tends to happen when you knowingly break the law"? Then it's just a matter of which value you hold higher: the laws that these protesters faced, or the not-forcibly-ousting-a-population laws.

The government is breaking the law by permitting the sale of these weapons.
