Get the f-droid app and install libretube for YouTube without ads and playing without the screen open. YOUR PHONE DOES NOT NEED TO BE ROOTED TO DO THIS. YOU DON'T NEED SOME CUSTOM OS EITHER. It's just an app called f-droid that you get as an APK.
