I am going to try and post this from lemmy.ca

If it works, I guess I've answered my own question.

Now can you subscribe and scroll lemmy subs from kbin?

I think that's always been possible? At least in the short time I've been around here.

For example, you can go into magazines and search for canada and it will give you not just the one hosted here at kbin.social but also canada@lemmy.ca, canada@lemmy.ml, etc.

I think when the great reddit migration happened, kbin got so swamped that they erected some sort of firewall that blocked out lemmy just to protect their own servers. But this didn't prevent you from reaching out to lemmy from your kbin account?

But if this sticks and 2-way connections remain open, that's is a good sign. It means kbin is getting on top of it? At least I hope that's the case!

during the flood of users, kbin put up Cloudflare just to slow everything down for a bit until it calmed down, and that created some issues with Federation outside of kbin. Now that it's gone though, it should all be back to normal, so you should see subs from Lemmy and other Fediverse software update normally now.
