It is the first criminal case of its kind since Russia's Supreme Court outlawed the so-called "international LGBT movement" last November.

If found guilty, the defendants face up to ten years in jail.

That would be a bit silly given that it's not a union of republics and there's nothing soviet or socialist about Russia

Correct, however it is still run in the shady way the CCCP government operated.

According to Kamil Galeev, it would be more accurate to claim that both the Soviet Union and modern Russia operate mostly the same way as Tsarist Russia did
