really? i was part of the biggest wrestling forum on the planet and that's gone, possibly for good. that's a big deal for a niche interest but everyone i've seen or interacted with is fine migrating to discord and the kbin. the only issue is what to do about the archive.

It's not getting as much discussion time around these parts but Discord seems like its gonna be the true reddit successor. Honestly, this makes me sad because Discord feels like jumping into a stream of consciousness.

I've found it to be really frustrating to have a "true" conversation on discord. "2 people typing..." before you even have a chance to write somethubfb

Discord?!? Really?!? The Microsoft owned chat app that was at one time primarily used by gamers and their guild/squad/herd? I don’t understand how that would be a viable solution to anything.

Discord seems like its gonna be the true reddit successor.

Not disagreeing that the masses will likely flock to it due to brand recognition and such ...

But man does that make me sad too... Really hate how locked down Discord is in comparison (like you can't even browse content without a login and using from the browser is painful compared to using a client). Add in their past (and possibly present) privacy issues and the fact that like Reddit, they are also a centralized site run by another greedy company and I feel like this is yet another recipe for disaster (albeit one that might take awhile to fully materialize)
