The Last of Us Part I is finally getting to a level that's actually good, and the latest update is out now including bumping it up to Steam Deck Verified status.

There are a lot of people who enjoyed the game for the storytelling, and it was fine, but it's also a damn good stealth game.

It's right in the mix with MGSV and the Sniper Elite games as the best stealth mechanics I've personally ever played. Because it's linear, you get less of the sandboxy stuff you can do in the other two, but you get really carefully crafted encounters that test you hard. The other unique element is that it takes a bit more resource management. Even melee uses consumable weapons, so you really have to pick your spots. (All 3 on harder than default; I can't speak to out of the box.)

If you don't enjoy the genre, maybe?
