u/spez here, and I've been libelling a third party developer for an app called Artemis (name changed for privacy) who has done nothing but improve the platform and peoples' experience on it, not to mention forcibly ensuring his app will die so that my shareholders will be happier and get more money. AITA?

Not only are YTA, but this will not help you make more money. What would have helped you make more money would be to charge a reasonable rate for API usage. But now you have alienated the users which contributed the most to your success.

But I'm being totally reasonable! I'm just ignoring why I make the money I make and using sheer user numbers to upcharge these blackmailing assholes! How dare you blackmail me and my company!
