I don't think I've ever heard them use the term "standby match" and now it's been said like 5-10 times tonight lol

I have no idea. It just seems like it's a term they're using for matches they didn't advertise.

I feel like they've used them in the past.

Might be their way to showcase tournament episodes differently. Feels like the card is allotted for at least 3 20 minute matches. If they finish early then we get standbys
