A home on LW for Android users.

RULES

While this is s community focused on Android, some of us have devices from the Android, Apple, Windows and Linux worlds, etc. We may prefer Android, but overzealous and obsessive adherence to Android as some sort of infallible platform won't be tolerated long here.

That said, being critical of brands is fine. Android is frustrating in some ways, just like iOS and so forth. Let's be upfront about that.

Be thoughtful and helpful, even with 'stupid' questions. Otherwise, as ya mama said, say nothing at all. The world won't be made better or worse by snarky dudes schooling naive newcomers on Lemmy.

Because damn that's annoying. With phones being massive now, it makes little sense to make us reach up to the top of the screen to swipe between tabs. Do all their chrome devs just have super long fingers..?

I tried switching to Firefox, which has the URL box at the bottom, but the lack of tab grouping (not the same thing as Firefox's tab collections) is really annoying. I've come to love that feature in Chrome!

So, next question... What's your fave browser on Android, and how well does it handle syncing with the desktop?

I'm using Edge currently, both on mobile and on desktop, especially for their Bing AI that's really useful. I think it's great, it syncs everything between devices, it's fast and I can even earn some money with Microsoft Rewards. It's unfortunately becoming more and more bloated with the recent updates, but fortunately I can disable unnecessary feature.

However, on Edge unfortunately the bottom bar stays at the top. Samsung Internet, the browser I previously used on mobile, had this option, and they also had a built-in adblocker and a dark mode filter for all website. If you care about syncing only favourites, it might be a really great browser
