Data Hoarder

We are digital librarians. Among us are represented the various reasons to keep data -- legal requirements, competitive requirements, uncertainty of permanence of cloud services, distaste for transmitting your data externally (e.g. government or corporate espionage), cultural and familial archivists, internet collapse preppers, and people who do it themselves so they're sure it's done right. Everyone has their reasons for curating the data they have decided to keep (either forever or For A Damn Long Time (tm) ). Along the way we have sought out like-minded individuals to exchange strategies, war stories, and cautionary tales of failures.

To add, I am in Canada so Shipping, Cost and Warranty are factors.

I've heard on other forums that https://serverpartdeals.com/ is highly recommended, but I am skeptical on using refurbished or recertified drives.

I did search and didn't find anything better in amazon, I guess they sold out. Amazon pricing is crap as well. Newegg has similar price to wd.com but you can add coupons there. I try to add coupon in wd.com but it made the price more expensive than without coupon.. ebay has better pricing but they is a lot of scams selling used drives as new since they delete the usage data.

I am on edge of buying a seagate on ebay but not sure. Since they selling it as new but I did some research on them in reddit and some old posts said that ebay seller use software to delete the usage data.. What I learned is that buying hard drives on blackfriday and cyber Monday is a terrible idea. I even saw prices in cyber Monday go up in price.
