Hi y'all im looking for a networking solution to get good wifi connection throughout the single story apartment.

Please bear with me, I am an absolute newbie and maybe sound totally stupid in this.

Our network will be just about 1gbps..

Problem my ONT location is located near my main door and isnt exactly the best place I want to put my wifi router. Our ONT is in a box and located near is a datapoint that runs cables to each of our rooms and living area.

I am wondering if it is possible to do this setup

ONT -> non-wifi router -> datapoint -> 1 x wifi router in my living room and 1x wifi router in my main bedroom.

Does this make any sense?

And can my 2x wifi router be like a mesh network?

I was thinking to use a non-wifi router because Im thinking it'll be cheaper? Or maybe I will just use the one from my ISP for that? Does it make sense?

The Unifi system requires a controller. Either a cloudkey, a Dream Machine type device OR the controller software running on a device on the network. But it technically only needs to run for setup or datalogging. Then can be turned off if desired.
