So, I just got jellyfin running in docker and so far just uploaded some photos. I'm just wondering what most of you are using it for. I'm asking because I really don't have a music connection like I had many years ago, best I pay for Apple music. Also I have no movie collection either. Maybe I don't even need jellyfin, but I love selfhosting and jellyfin is fantastic in it's possible uses. I don't understand the live TV or DVR options I'm still playing with the settings.

I guess I'm asking you guys to tell me why I need jellyfin and what else I could use it for.

Thanks for understanding my thoughts.

You guys here have thought me so much about selfhosting and I appreciate it greatly!

Here's an idea, check out ytdl-sub: https://github.com/jmbannon/ytdl-sub

You can set it to track a YouTube channel and it will download videos and set up nice collections for you in Jellyfin, which you'll never lose again and can watch without ads.

I just recently saw this pop up in my feeds. Gonna give it a go when I get a chance. Looks very cool!

I've looked at this and it's very complicated at least to me. I can't make sense of how to use it with jellyfin. I'll keep trying to figure it out. Instructions are very good. Thanks again!
