I've always found chess enjoyable to play but tiring, as it requires a lot of thinking. I also used to get frustrated by waiting for the other person to make their move, whilst they think out the options... I've recently started to play games using a chess timer on my phone, set to 10 minutes each. Makes it a lot more enjoyable for me. I'm really enjoying chess again.
I got "hooked" by playing 5+3 (5 minutes for each player and 3s per turn for each player) games online. It really makes it more enjoyable because the clock is a natural antidote to "perfectionism". If I blunder a piece now, I still get mad, however, it's bound to happen under a time constraint so I don't lose the motivation for the next match due to this.
