(I think this is probably an okay place to post this, lmk if not)

Looking for collaborators to create a new instance of Lemmy. Among other things this instance will differ from existing ones by having a self-governing structure. Check out the very rough draft linked below to learn about my current vision for this community. Much on the doc will change based on other people's ideas. This community's goal is for it to belong to the community. No specific skills needed, but please read through the concept outline before getting in touch. Any type of contribution is amazing. You just have to be interested. Join me in creating a unique and innovative platform.

I'm not trying to compete with beehaw, just do things slightly different. We will likely take much inspiration from beehaw as well.

Hmm... I might be on board, but reading through this your proposal seems far too vague? I can understand you're not trying to be beehaw. And that you're trying to do your own thing. But can you elaborate on the differences?

I'd love if you were to join me. I've left everything intentionally vague so that i'm not the one making all the decisions. That doc is meant to be a very rough draft to ensure that the main aspect (the self governance) is truly realized. If I were to precisely lay out how i wanted it to be it would be my community not the community's community. That's also the reason I'm searching for others and not just setting it up myself.

Ehhh, I've been around for long enough to kinda be scared off by vague proposals... Having a solid idea of what you want, how you're going to do it, why you want it, and who would be involved is a prerequisite in my eyes. I'm all for community led communities. But without something solid and specific, there's no real reason to trust you.

I really don't mean this as an insult. I can tell that you do have a vision here. But, without details and genuine work. No one else will see your vision. Especially if your vision is built off of collaboration. It sounds backwards, but trust me on this. No one will share the same passion for your projects as you do. You have to find a way to get people on board with YOU and working with you. Otherwise there's no reason they couldn't just go off and do what you're saying, sans you.

Thanks for the advice, I'll admit i've been a little rash. Tomorrow I'll write out a more clear mission. I still do wish that I could work with others to create that mission so that it's not just my voice. IDK.

I look forward to it, genuinely, I do. But... Your inexperience is a bit obvious. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, really. Hopefully I will have something before July 1 that resembles a good mission and can setup the community.

I ended up getting hit with a huge burst of motivation and have created a new doc with far more explanation. I'd love some new feedback if you're willing.
