The problem isn't Unity, or even its CEO. The problem is greed. The problem is; they can dictate whatever they want because everyone depends on them. Use FOSS already. You should have done it long before this happened.

People on the subreddit are absolute fools thinking they will be safe if they revert the changes.

It's the same thing that happened with wizards of the coast.

Well the problem with FOSS is, that very few are willing to participate in a meaningful (money/time) way - FOSS is often taken for granted in the same way a public park is.

More „love“ would be really nice for some projects, because, technologically or UI-wise, FOSS solutions aren’t always „up to date“.

Meaning: Game-Developers should start pouring money into the development of Godot or similar projects.

Sure, it's not as convenient as just licensing something out of the box. But at least you won't get ripped off like this just because the one person in charge feels free to do whatever the fuck he or she wants.

Being able to modify the engine as necessary is a nice bonus as well.
