Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Is this a desktop computer? That's a potato GPU, so you could replace it with something quite cheap that's not nvidia and have a much better experience. I'd recommend something like an AMD RX 460/550/560 to replace that. You can get it for like 30-40-ish dollar/euro/pounds. It's an order of magnitude faster than the 730 (not that it matters if you don't game though), is low power so no need to worry about upgrading PSU, and you have working drivers out of the box. No need to fiddle with proprietary nvidia drivers.
Edit: If it is a laptop you can probably just disable the nvidia GPU alltogether and use intel integrated graphics instead with better driver support.
