A fan map for fallout depicting Chicago, now known as the Dreg Heap. Though not hit with nuclear missiles by the Great War, infiltrators and 5th columnists in the city set off a nuclear bomb beneath the Chicago Loop soon after the Bombs began falling.

The city remains a hotbed of factional disputes; between Enclave Remnants who control the USS Cradley and several covert bunkers and other facilities throughout the city; the Brotherhood of Steel which controls Midway Airport and the bombed out ruins of O'Hare as well as other settlements and checkpoints around the city; to the Faithful of Thoria (like the Children of Atom) who created their own sacred sanctuary in glow of the Crater; to various raider and settler groups.

Other major groups include Chinatown, which was turned into a walled ghetto in the years leading up to the Great War. As a result, however, the neighborhood was quite defensible once the US soldiers fled. The town of Stickney still maintains a water treatment plant that provides water for much of the settlers of the area as well.

Due to the city's geography, as well as climate change from the Great War, much of the city is flooded with swampy, polluted water. Boats are necessary for much of the area, and the city is known for its large populations of Bloodbugs, Bloatflies, and Radroaches, as well as Mirelurk.

However, the city is also home to Dregs, amorphous masses of rotting plastic, meat, trash and petroleum created before the war by WestTek as a means to deal with petroleum pollution products, perhaps as a means to reclaim it for use. After the war, however, the normally harmless microbes became voracious colonies that slowly ooze around consuming anything organic in their path.

When the weather turns just right, huge volumes of trash roll in from the Lake onto Chicago's shores, causing booms of Dreg growth. Settlers have taken to lighting pyres on the docks and beaches to keep them at bay during these times, as they hate intense heat.

I picked up a ligero67 this summer, a 3d printed body for Mamiya Press lenses and backs. Developed my first couple rolls recently and had a fair few accidental multiple exposures, but I liked this one!

Dreyma (beehaw.org)

This is Dreyma by Jenn Steingass. Here is my Ravelry project page: FiberAndColor's Dreyma

The neck is rolling a bit too much and I'm not sure if I will be able to block that out. If you have suggestions, I'm happy to hear them. I'm curious how others got away without that hyper roll or what I did wrong?

The yoke was a challenge for me because it fell in between a 32" and 40" circular but I made it work, sometimes using two circulars in order not to distort the fabric.

I fell in love with this pattern the minute I saw it and love it still. I'd love to make a little kid version of this - it would be adorable!

Ukes With Alex (Alex from the Southern Ukulele Store) does a good demonstration of tone woods in a few videos. I really like this one in particular because he is tightly focused on two very different woods - and I can actually hear the difference!

I find that I really love learning how to improve in art. It brings me unrivaled joy to figure out things like how a hand looks doing this, or how to draw a head doing that.

However, I'm wondering if any of you like the process of art studies? I know that I tend to put them off because I'd rather be drawing cute characters doing cute things than doing a figure study for an hour. I like art studies as much as the next person does, I just find it more fun to draw personal projects and incorporate references as a way of studying.

This is probably my favourite outfit at the moment. I do have a lady bug caplet in the works but I haven't come across the perfect lining yet.

Self drafted the dungarees based on a vintage Busybodies pattern I found at the dump for some shorts. Added pockets, a bib, ruffles, straps, adjusted sizing, changed the waistband and essentially just looked at the front of the envelope for inspiration on the shorts shape.

For the blouse, I altered the milkmaid dress pattern from Lydia Naomi, adjusting fit and changing it from a side zipper to a back corset closure with inbuilt back pannel.

All the fabrics and notions are 2nd hand. The lace, strawberry fabric, blouse lining, dungaree lining and gingham fabric are from the dump. The eyelets for the corset and ribbon are from a garage sale and the ladybug denim was gifted to me by my best friend who found it at a charity shop.

Snapped this on my way home from work the other day. The sun was hitting it just right, makes the brown bricks look like chrome. Trying to play with textures and repeats lately.

This video analyzing the accuracy (?) of the GoT costumes has been out for a while, but I keep going back to it. The creative decisions that keep the costumes consistent and avoid breaking the “willing suspension of disbelief” of the viewer are invisible to me until she points them out - and I am fascinated by it. (And I’ve never seen Game of Thrones nor read the book)

I do a lot of tabletop wargaming projects, but sometimes it’s nice to just make something out of nothing for the sake of it. I don’t get to show these projects off much.

Going with a knitting post today! Any other keen sock knitters about? Feel free to show off your cozy feet and recommend good patterns!

I love knitting socks, they're the best travel project and you can just get so many stunning sock yarns from indie dyers.

These beauties are the "Drippity Drop Socks" pattern by Kay F Jones which I was gifted by a very kind Instagram friend. The yarn was by Castle View Yarns, their Fear of the Dark colourway on a typical 75/25 merino/nylon base.

One thing I'll say about this pattern is that the toe section was weird. Instead of just decreasing down each side which is what I've seen in basically every other cuff-down sock pattern, it had me decrease evenly around the whole toe so it has a slightly odd "bunched" feel. If I make this pattern again I'll probably just do the toes the normal way tbh.

Other than that though, absolutely love them!

Snapped this walking to work the other day. I have been really enjoying playing with reflections lately. So lucky that they were looking right at the camera, and just the way the crosswalk and doubles are showing from the window was just great!

This video was a total rollercoaster ride. I started watching expecting the usual youtube cringe commentary, but wound up with a pretty compelling story of a guy who just really enjoys making art, and his family who supports him

Get into making dice we did! We started off just trying to make basic moulds from store bought dice, and somehow that ended up with investments into a 3d printer, pressure pot and compressor, learning to CAD our own "dice mould moulds", and so many hours spent polishing the damn things by hand.

There are now more dice in our house than we could ever use in a lifetime, but they are very pretty, so success I guess?

Joining @Wigglet@beehaw.org in the quest to fill this place with fun craft projects. Yesterday was sewing, today I present to you...wedding crochet!

I taught my bf (ok yes now husband but that sounds weird still) to crochet last year, so we made these simple little crochet flowers together for our small ceremony a couple months ago. The smaller white flowers are just artificial Baby's Breath from Amazon.

The pattern was Crochet Ranunculus from Moara Crochet but fair warning that the written version didn't make much sense and the video was much better. There's lots of blue and white sock yarn left over so I may yet end up with some kind of souvenir ankle socks out of it.

My ribbon wrapping technique left a bit to be desired but it was the night before and things were fraught!

Tried to sew my own wedding dress too but that was a fail so I just picked up a £30 thing off Amazon. Worked out just fine!

Sorry I don't want to come off as spammy but I also want us to have lots of fun content so more people feel encouraged to share 🥰 I could look at garden and crafty posts all day.

I wanted to give this coat a slouchy old plushtoy feel so i undersised the lining and edged it in a blanket stitch. I'm really happy with it and I wear it all the time

****noooo the cursed horizontal formatting is back! The pictures are vertical in my phone. I resaved them and double checked

**** okay i resaved them all with a 3rd party app. This is the way. Someone pleSe fix how jerboa reads photo orientation.

I've been a massive fan of Eurovision since I was a little kid and this was the first time it's been hosted in the UK since 1998, so if there's ever an excuse for a special make it was this one!

I used the "Magnolia Boat Neck Dress" pattern from My Golden Thimble, which I've used before and is fairly beginner-friendly. It comes with all kinds of options for different necklines, pockets, additional ruffles etc but for this one I just stuck to the basics. I did make the pocket insides out of some red cotton scraps though because why the heck not, although I can't figure out how to attach more than one image to show you...

The main fabric is just some flag print polycotton that you can find all over eBay, technically it wasn't 100% accurate to the list of participating countries this year but hey, close enough.

We had a fantastic time in Liverpool, and as luck would have it the person sitting in front of us in the arena recognised my dress from a Mastodon post about it the day before! What are the chances?!
