I've been teaching myself how to do art, mostly for TTRPG reasons, this is one of the things I've made lately I'm most proud of

She made her nest in our backyard, giving me the perfect chance to get a nice picture! The babies fell out a few times and we had to put them back in, but they all made it!

I cut gemstones and cut this in a custom design, and wanted to share with Star Wars fans.

I took this at the zoo. The sea lion was playing with the kids and they were reaching and jumping begging it for attention. Just after I took this picture, the sea lion playfully snapped at the kids through the plexiglass, and they all happily screamed. I hope the picture makes you smile.

My grandpa gave me an olympus om-2n, and a family friend was offloading his entire darkroom, so I ended up with all the stuff for free. Since then I've been blundering my way along, and after a year or so I feel like I'm starting to get some control. I'm not normally an artistic person, but I really enjoy how methodical you need to be with the analog process. If you enjoy this, I will post a few more. I had a manic episode a couple months ago, and produced some pictures that I think are ok.

Re-Awakening

Faces fly in and out of the door, and my jaw aches from warm, welcoming smiles. The map crinkles on the desk, the same places marked in ink again and again. Chalk dust coats my fingers while names are written and erased, written and erased, written and erased. Voices meld into amalgamous cacophony, save one.

A sound of low honey-wine, soothing and warm. Soft, caressing whispers to make me shiver. Supple, sliding fingers to make my breath escape. Warm, beating hearts to make my blood quicken. A glowing, vibrant soul that puts my pen to paper.

The click of a handle, a door swings open, and a face steps out. A beautiful, smiling face that compels me across the threshold. Lips that needed to be felt against my own, to weave a cord around my heart to yours.

This is from when I was working at a hostel and my now-wife was a guest staying for a few days. We spent some fun nights together. When they checked out, I followed them out to say goodbye and asked if I may kiss them (worked out, luckily!). Afterwards I wrote them this poem because I am nothing if not extra.

Funny fact: I was also living at that hostel, which was a converted single family home, doing a work trade. Which meant I lived the lesbian dream of "the one" simply walking into my living room.

Well, it's time to post some content in this community isn't it? :3 The drawing is from my worldbuilding project, it is supposed to be the government center of one of the constituent states of my fictional nation.

These are all either practice stones, some of my most precious or stones I've done just for fun. I've cut for friends, family and commission but keep it more of a hobby than a business. (No I'm not soliciting for work.)

The types of stones in the image are:

  • quartz
  • amethyst
  • tourmaline
  • beryl (both golden and aquamarine)
  • garnet (mostly pyrope)
  • topaz
  • sapphire

I'll keep posting as I have time in hopes that there are some lurking lapidaries out there that will eventually chime in. 😀

This is a new design that has 198 facets that I thought was going to be a challenge to cut, but was much easier than I anticipated. I would have uploaded a video, but haven’t figured out quite how to do that yet.

This is from a new community that is all about faceting gemstones. If you are in to lapidary of any kind, subscribe!

I thought it might be fun to have the community icons lean into the beehive theming, so I made some mock-ups as a proof of concept of how they could look. I also made a logo with a more simplified bee and more of a cowboy motif

Grit on my skin. Flowing,
softer with the light and
cut
down the middle. There's more
to the width of a line / bisected
the fullness of an atom not merely divided.
I am burst into light. Evading and evaporating.
Shadows contour the ground,
Harsh edges form and beg to burst as well,
to bathe every surface in that vastness of spirit.
but,
it requires
compression.
The distinction between forces
and the energy to move between them.
The will is.
Like a shadow, the evidence.
Catching, in a gasp,
as the pendulum of self slides through that razor-thin line.

I am still fairly new to Leathercraft and just got into making handbags. Here are some pics of my first two handbags made from my own designs. Leather is Hidden Water from Sepici (green) and Blue Tidal from Arif & Sons (Blue)

I love this community here! So many creatives. I am into Leathercraft right now and I’ll be posting some of my items soon. I also created a more specific community over on Lemmy.ca If you are a Leathercrafter check out: https://lemmy.ca/c/leathercraft

It took me ages and I hated the process but I absolutely love it. It's very dense. The base fabric was a peice of curtain. The yarns are a mix of what ever I could find. I bought some new and found some 2nd hand or was given them. It took a looooooot of yarn.

I want to make more but I'll have to invest in a rug gun first 🙃

This is a map I made for a D&D game I play in featuring the world setting, Elysia. If I recall the lore correctly for the setting, Elysia was something of a prototype, one that was left unfinished in the end. Like a game that never actually left Beta testing and was released as is (like most modern day AAA games amirite).

The map is highly inspired by a map found in Dover Castle that is a recreation of an older, 12th century map. The Angels that adorn mine are based on those found in D&D, including Deva and Planetars.

The monsters on the map are, likewise, based on those found on that same map. Though with a bit of a slant for the game.

I plan to use this same map frame for other things as well. Maybe for the Eberron or Faerun maps.

Do you want to tune in high G or low G… or do you want to have two ukuleles so you can have one of each?

(Get two! Really push the brightness and use spruce or cedar top for your high G uke.)

I'm quite proud of how the brushwork and texturing turned out! Lmk what you think, and any feedback you might have!
