Final Fantasy XIV has been a huge part of my life recently, no small thanks to these fellows!

I'm reviewing my manuscript and noticing that my scenes tend to trail off towards the end. This has been a long, arduous project and moving from scene to scene where the enthusiasm appeared was one way to keep on track with targets. Now I need to knit everything together into a cohesive whole. What tips to people have for rounding off scenes? How can I best make sure there is continuity between scenes/chapters/segments?

This is yet another worldbuilding project material for my fictional nation, Ujangian Federation. This is the Emperor of Ujangian Federation, Mikhail Freivanodursson V (or VI Mikhail Freivanodursson if following the Jakallian Roman Numerals), he is also simultaneously Tsar of the Tsardom of Jakall, a constituent state within the Federation.

This is a pyrope garnet set in sterling silver. She did pretty well on this, with only a few mistakes here and there.

I started nail art in 2020, and learned most of the techniques through reddit. Looking forward to sharing what I know and learning more cool skills on Lemmy!

Any fellow laqueristas here?

Each figurine is made out of over 800 individually folded modules. It took me around 75 hours to design and make them.

Edit: If anyone is interested in learning the hobby or making these figurines yourself I am glad to help out with resources and diagrams for every model I designed.

At the center of this carving sits Lake Cumberland Marina, the largest marina on the largest man-made lake in the United States. I prefer to use locally available hardwoods, in this case, maple and thermal poplar with resin added to represent the water. No paints, stains or dyes were used on the wood. Actively seeking commissions at woodgrainterrain.com.

Decided to try my hand at color work for the first time in crochet. Dreading weaving it all in at the very end, but it looks so pretty so far. I'm excited to give it to my grandma when it's done, I know she's gonna love it! I plan on doing a fancy white border around once its done.

3d modelling is one of my favourite hobbies. I began playing Go not too long ago, and decided to combine these two hobbies! depicted is a traditional set of Go.

Boards of these dimensions usually go for many hunsreds dollars, but the grain is beautiful to look at. The black stones are made of Slate, the white stones are clamshell. The bowls are dark cherry wood!

Thought id share a WIP of my current cosplay project! I finished last month the Stringbean staff for my cosplay, and it was the most intensive prop I’ve ever worked on.

First, someone already made the stl of Stringbean, and was selling the file online so I purchased myself it. (Here it is so others can also find it. Big thanks to the person for making this public: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/owl-house-luz-stringbean-staff-cosplay-palisman-3d-print-model)

But, made modifications with both the pole I had being larger and a slight consistency error with the show I noticed (how Stringbean attaches to the pole). So, went into blender and modified it. After that, could 3D print it on my Ender 5 Pro, where then refinement began.

Tons of spray painting, until eventually I reached the state I was happy with. I resin-casted the orb, took several days since first time I ever did resin-casting. Then had some leftover resin so I casted the eyes to create more of a shine. Put it all together, and bam! And it turned out incredible.

From one side:

The other:

Overall, so proud, it was my first time doing props to this degree, and taught a ton. Now for the rest of the cosplay.

I want to add some content to help grow the community here. I’m wondering if I should mark this as NSFW? I can edit it if I need to. Just wondering where I should draw the line.

edit: changed sumi ink to acrylic

Somehow this building is isolated against the sky even though it's in a really packed part of town. The texture of the building face and the triangle of light over the N caught my attention, so I pulled over to take a photo.

This one was surprisingly easy to print. I stabilized the side of the camera against a light pole, and I think that contributed to the sharpness and detail as compared to a lot of the other shots I've taken.

There's something about these little corner stores that I find comforting, especially when it's so late at night that I'm the only one around. I hope you like it.

Edit: the title shouldn't be a link. It doesn't go anywhere. I was just duplicating the peculiar way the name of the business is painted on the front of the building :/

Fallout: Isle map (beehaw.org)
submitted 1 year ago by ArtZuron to c/creative

A WIP for a map for a Fallout game I'm working on at the moment, featuring Honolulu, one of several areas in the so-called "Isle."

Hawaii was the major logistical center for the entire Sino-American War in the Pacific. Hundreds of thousands of encrypted messages, missives, orders, and status reports flowed through it every day. The US fleets used Hawaii as a main base as well.

Hawaii was protected by robot and human armies, covered in turrets, automated anti-aircraft weapons, radar and other sensors, and was surrounded with an undersea minefield that blew up anything that so much as touched the water without a US transponder, which was changed every 4 hours.

Upwards of a thousand nuclear devices were fired into Hawaii during the Great War, most of which were intercepted, but yet dozens still made their mark or nearly so. Tsunamis and explosions carved the islands up, destroying almost all of the surface infrastructure and nearly every human on them.

However, the islands themselves, and a few survivors, persisted, even as the smoke and fallout cleared. For decades, the islands lay quiet as people attempted to rebuild meager lives. The natives of the Island formed new communities of survivors, often taking after those of the distant past.

But, the Isle still had many secrets. Below the ground, under the waters, and hidden deep within were facilities yet untouched. Inside these facilities lay advanced technology, heavy machinery, and enough weapons to take over the world, if one could access them.

Following the Enclave's emergence back into the Wasteland, and their attempt to reconnect with their various sects across the US, they found that few could hear their calls. In Hawaii's case, the only response was from automated systems, which did in fact breath once more at their beckon. But not all of it.

The NCR and Brotherhood of Steel both learned of Hawaii through intercepted messages and intel, but they were late to the show. By the time they began to move, the Enclave had already moved to take the Isle. The Brotherhood, with Airships, left first. The NCR had to make due with a prewar warship.

What they found in the Isle wasn't islands blasted bare by nuclear Armageddon, however. Instead, they found the islands absolutely broiling with greenery and life. The Isle was the most verdant place any of them had ever seen, even more so than what it had been even before the War. But therein lies the issue. For all its beauty, the flora and fauna of the Isle were unwelcoming.

Massive man-eating caterpillars, swarms of flies that could gnaw through iron, venomous snakes capable of killing a man in 10 seconds, frogs that can swallow a man whole, and plants that could do that and more.

Thus, a scramble to control the islands began between the locals who only wanted a peaceful life, the NCR and their accompanying mercenaries, the Brotherhood of Steel, and the Enclave. Another force was also on the island, something that seemed to guide the plants and animals to act in unnatural order and unity and seemed to wish to drive everyone but the locals off the Isle for good.

Since there was some discussion around cutting, I thought I’d post some pics I took during the cutting of the previously posted iris cut.

So roughed in the pavilion and cut the girdle and first tier.

Next, finish cutting but not polished the pavilion.

Pavilion polished

Next step is to transfer the stone to another dop to cut the other side.

Cut the crown of the stone without polish or the table.

Polished crown without the table

And now the final result

Feel free to ask questions!

I'm using a cheap projector off BangGood on top of a camera tripod. There's a bit of set-up time every time I want to cut some fabric since I can't mount it to the ceiling but it's still way quicker than printing, taping, and cutting pdf patterns!
This cute raccoon brushed French terry was turned into a Tilly and the Buttons Billie Sweater.

I was given a big box of leftover embroidery thread and I have been using it learning to make temari balls. They are made by wrapping yarn and then thinner and thinner thread around a core until it forms a ball, dividing the ball and marking it with thread and finally stitching geometric designs over the markings. I am still very much a beginner but these are really fun to make.

It's difficult to take pics of a reflective surface :')
I bought the svg files from Etsy, cut using my Silhouette Cameo, assembled it all in a IKEA frame, and added a LED string that I scavenged from an advent calendar from last year.
