I work for a Dutch NGO and we have implemented the Fairphone this year. Great phone, pretty durable and great repairablility. We're quit happy with this move from cheap China phones to the Fairphone.
Technology
A nice place to discuss rumors, happenings, innovations, and challenges in the technology sphere. We also welcome discussions on the intersections of technology and society. If it’s technological news or discussion of technology, it probably belongs here.
Remember the overriding ethos on Beehaw: Be(e) Nice. Each user you encounter here is a person, and should be treated with kindness (even if they’re wrong, or use a Linux distro you don’t like). Personal attacks will not be tolerated.

As a US slave, I'm super excited for this! I've been using the previous version for about two years now, and it's been awesome. I'd even say it's on par, if not better, than Apple and Google flagship phones. But that's just my opinion.
I really hope the 5 brings the headphone jack back.
I wish we made mobile-desktop OS convergence happen already. I want to have one device with multiple dock stations, running the software I chose the way I have set it up.
It's in my pocket - it's a phone. At home I put it in the doc with some peripherals and additional compute connected - now it's a desktop. Same software in one same place, along with the data - my primary phone-thing. I take it away - now the doc is free for someone else to use with their setup.
Why, oh god, why do we not have this? The only thing that is close is iOS/OSX combo, but I cringe at the idea of getting back into a corporate walled garden.
And we still don't have proper Linux phones because Qualcomm is being an ass about some IP or something.
C'mon humanity - we could have had so many nice things already, but we had to ruin it all by chasing "profits" and securing "growth". All my homies hate capitalist "growth".
GIMME A PROPER LINUX PHONE GODDAMIT!
