I may be subleasing an apartment from a friend in a couple months. I’d like to keep my network setup (pf sense) without making any changes to their existing network. Can I just plug my WAN port on my PF sense box into a lan port on the existing network and call it a day? I only have one port I’d need open for my VPN server, my plan is to forward the port on their router to the fixed IP of my pf sense router and then forward it in pf sense to my vpn server as I do now.

I’ve read that dual nat can be a headache but if I’m not using upnp, opening up any other ports, or want to have lan traffic between the two networks (I’d like to have this blocked entirely actually) will I have any issues?

You'd probably have a simpler time by setting up Tailscale on your router and connect to that remotely. It will propagate random networks much easier
