This sub made me start on Star Trek TNG. I'm finishing the show up this week. I don't regret a single thing. Thank you Lemmy!

Posts from this community popping up from time to time was actually what pushed me to start watching a few weeks ago. So, a big thank you to you all!

Fantastic! Welcome to the franchise fandom family - large, argumentative but still fam.

Also, this is one of the nicest, least toxic, places to talk to other fans.

Seven of Nine: Skintight leotards.

Deanna Troy: Also skintight leotards, but less often.

It is because of this shit that I'm now finished with Discovery, Lower Decks, 5 episodes into SNW, 20 Episodes into ENT, and 1.75 seasons through TOS.

What an Inspiring place 🖖

Posts like this reconcile me to the bad, infinitely-memed guy in a Gorn suit in TOS ‘Arena’.

OP can I recommend Star Trek: Lower Decks as your gateway … to the onscreen franchise. A logical place to start.

Say what you will about Shatner, and a lot of it will be perfectly true and highly applicable, but there are plenty longstanding pro wrestlers who wouldn't have committed as much as he did to selling the fuck out of each one of those glacial smacks.

The ham in TOS is like half the fun though 😄 Same with the first couple of seasons of TNG.

I can appreciate the camp now. In the 90s, it was very cringey. . . and in the 60s & 70s I was too young to get that it was campy.

Seriously, how do you have access to the internet and never see a single movie/episode?

[–] LolaCat@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (4 children)

I've also never seen Star Wars, GOT, or any Marvel/DC movies. I kinda just exist inside my own little bubble. Honestly I don't even know what's popular anymore lol

[–] enthusiasticamoeba@lemmy.ml 15 points 1 year ago

Don't worry, plenty of Trekkies don't know/care about what's popular either. That's why we're still making memes about a sixty year old series 🥲

This is such a heartwarming thread.

[–] wick@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago

Does watching Mike and Rich insert it into every conversation count?

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 2 points 1 year ago

Nothing better than TNG and DS9.
