My title might be a bit hyperbolic, but stuff like this worries me. I love to read and I love reading on a kindle. This has been going on for a while, but it has now reached absurd levels.

What I don't understand is who is downloading and reading these books?

This is solvable problem, things will just need time to adapt.

Fuck Amazon. I drop kicked the Kindle years ago. I switched to a Kobo and manage books I've purchased with Calibre (free and open source) or borrow books via my local library's Overdrive service.

Remember the good old days when you could mod your kindle and download any book from Amazon servers? Lots of books got leaked that way.

AI was a mistake

From the text samples on Amazon, these sound more like bad Google translations than AI generated text.

This sure looks like a good way to use some illegally obtained amazon gift cards, doesn't it? At a simple 30% cleaning cost, doesn't look that bad. Not the best way, but not the worst either.

I'd love to use the library more but it's said that a lot of romance/sapphic books are self-published and only available on KU. :/ I get the necessity, though.
