There are issues with this article. "Longest city in the world"? Given that it's basically suburbia all the way from LA to San Diego, I'm having a hard time accepting that one. I don't know how long that California megalopolis thingy is in total, but it's a lot longer than Perth-Bunbury.

Mr Pettitt is right. Planting trees is good. Building on the fringes of Perth is not ideal.

Mr Carey is right. Housing supply should be the most important priority for the Planning minister. Also, this government has invested a fortune on public transport infrastructure. They should be recognised more for it.

The positions of these guys are mostly compatible. It'd be nice to see them working together more and chasing sound bytes less. I hate how politicians always want to sit in their own camps and point fingers at each other, winning points in some imaginary game that only they care about.

The line should have been drawn 20 years ago. Still better late than never.

I love your username.

I've recently noticed that Perthians do seem more partial to ye olde long mac than others.

I've also noticed that customers in Freo cafes seem to... greet each other? Is this a thing or is it just me. Usually when I go to a cafe I'm busy not acknowledging anyone like a normal person but apparently that's not how things are done here?

Are you a """"journalist""""?

[–] DogMuffins@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No. Do journalists ask about this stuff?

They always open with "ayy cool username bro πŸ‘ˆπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘ˆ" to try and get a little personal connection going before they hit them up for copypasta to put behind a paywall is all.

The Perth long Mac variant is it's own thing. Bell explains it here https://www.thebelltowertimes.com/long-mac-topped-up-perth/

Not sure about the greeting thing in Freo. I haven't noticed it in the Perth CBD.

Wait, so the perth long mac is just a flat white? I thought it was the same as the Melbourne variant.

Basically a latte / flat white with an extra shot.

But saying that to a local may offend.

Perth is going to spread all the way to Adelaide eventually. Just accept it.

[–] Gorgritch_umie_killa@aussie.zone 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Adelaide, Perths satellite city. Does that mean the Nullabor will practically be inner city living?

[–] Sivalente@lemm.ee 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Kangaroo Island and Rottnest will be connected by high-speed rail.

It'll be a shitfight to name it, the 'Quick Quokka', or the 'Boundless Kangaroo'. The nations not ready for a fight that large!
