Excerpt:

In our last email to them, we stated that we wanted $4.5 million in exchange for the deletion of the data and our silence. As we also stated, if we had to make this public, then we now demand that they also withdraw their API pricing changes along with our money or we will leak it.

We expect to leak the data.

But what does that data include?

The article doesn't say, but if I had to take a guess, it's either

  1. internal data from the company - exposing a few skeletons in the closet
  2. user data - showing that Reddit is unable to protect its own users.

Either should cause quite a bit of damage to Reddit, in addition to the protests.

Please be 1. I love watching skeletons fall out of closets.

Ditto. I want to see Reddit gone but #2 might hurt people who have nothing to do with this.

Sounds like now is the time to follow the dirtiest, nastiest, subs I can find. Really throw them off my trail.

Wait.. why am I already subbed to these??

After getting the money.

80gb isn't really much data these days, so it's likely summarized or collated data of some kind like user profiles.
