Good to have another place to discuss United!
Red Devils
All things Manchester United.
New to the community? Come say hi in the Welcome thread.
Got any suggestions on how we can improve and grow as a community? Let us know!
Basic rules:
- Fuck the Glazers
- Be civil to each other
- No non-Manchester United/football content (non-United content is allowed if it affects United in some way. Will look at starting a Weekly Discussion thread for this)
- Fuck the Glazers
- Posting news from other social media sites is allowed, but stick to reliable sources (may implement a tier system in future)
- Keep it legal - no streams please :)
- Have fun!
- Fuck the Glazers
Welcome!
Hello everyone! Looks like Lemmy has some traction because of the Reddit protests. Hopefully we build on it with this community and United content.
Welcome!
Hello!
Comments works fine now. Thanks!
Hurrah! Welcome!
Really excited about this. R/reddevils was the only thing keeping me on Reddit so I'm really hoping this takes off.
Obligatory fuck Glazers
I hope so too, we're slowly gaining subscribers so just get the word out and hopefully we'll have a nice little community :)
Fuck the Glazers
Hello y'all! Fellow reddit refugee from r/reddevils here!
Welcome! Feel free to share with anyone else who may be interested so we can grow our little community :)
I'm in absolute disbelief how much people have switched from supporting the blackout to standing up for corporations because 'they're a company they have to make a profit'. Capitalism has done a number on people...
At this point I don't even know what would be better, to keep the blackout going or to stop it, let reddit go through with the changes, and hope it dies.
I hope we can build this community same as we did with the reddit one.
It's interesting (to say the least) to see many are so aggressively against the blackouts. I'm guessing those people are ones who have only ever used the official Reddit app and just accept it. I've been a RIF user since before Reddit had an app. I installed the official app once and think I uninstalled it the same day because it's just horrible. I'm sure there will be a good number migrating over, especially when the third party apps are killed off. We just need to make sure everyone is aware that there is an alternative community.
I say we just get some more people here and let them shit post themselves to death in Reddit. The Reddit community will decrease when 3rd party apps die.
The problem isn't corporations trying to make a profit. The problem is corporations doing shitty things to make a profit.
Turning a free API into a paid one to cover costs and make profits isn't even that big of a deal. There are many paid APIs that are fairly priced. Except they had to make it prohibitively expensive to make most third party apps no longer viable
Gunner here visiting, nice first rule you've got there :) And fourth, and eighth
It's definitely an important part of being a United fan!
Let's hope you keep it going if Qatar takes over... As much as I dislike your lot, you're a damn sight better than the oily bastards.
I'll be gutted if Qatar end up taking over, I have hope they won't but I'm not optimistic
Word was that they're probably just gonna buy another club if they don't, so the fate of the sport might be doomed soon anyway... making me wish my local league was actually accessible (Hong Kong, we're not even on Fotmob/onefootball lol)
Ah yeah that sucks! I'm a season ticket holder for my local team in Wales. The Welsh Premier league does get shown on TV a bit but it's not a great experience!
It's only made worse by the fact that I'm studying abroad most of the year now and my team is in the second division in Hong Kong (South China AA, we used to be one of the biggest teams in Hong Kong but self-relegated due to financial issues, you may have heard of us due to the Premier League Asia trophy) which has even less coverage. Our rivals Kitchee are doing better than ever as well, which feels ever-so-bittersweet.
Ah yeah, we (Barry Town United) just got promoted back to the Premier - no games in the leagues below ever get broadcast. Fortunately we are at least on Flashscores, and we have a Cymru Football app so I was at least able to keep up to date with what was going on
The only ways I can keep up are either the HKFA website, or Transfermarkt. I haven't been able to find any other way, and I've not found any streaming of the second tier (the first tier is on pay-per-view for a fairly pro-China news network...)
It's Qatar or a Petrochemical firm so I think we're gonna turn oily either way 😔
Glazers: well if you say that, guess we'll not sell
Comments should work now folks!
Hi fellow supporters.
Let's hope this place gets populated a bit. :)
Welcome! I hope so too, feel free to share this around. I'm keeping as up to date as I can with any news but if anything happens and you don't see it here, feel free to post it
Hi another Reddit evacuee here, glad to see the start of the community here. Hopefully get some good transfers in this summer.
Welcome!
Aloha! GGMU!
Welcome!
Hi all. Weird how my feddit.uk instance wouldn't let me find this sub. Had to make a lemmy.world instance to get here. Anyway, we on for Mbappe or what?
Mbappe and Kane I reckon
We wish. At this rate well end up with Mount and Pickford with the Glazers still in charge. Let's hope not.
Hi everyone - mainly just lurk on Reddit but thought I’d say hello in here! Fuck the Glazers, bring on United.
Hello, welcome!
Hello Al, fellow former redditor here. I really hope we get a critical mass here and get an app soon. There are some rough edges but I am sure we can get them sorted out. Looking forward to sharing joys and disappointments with our matches in the coming season.
Welcome!
There are a couple of apps out there, jerboa for Android and mlem (I think) for iPhone. They're extremely rough around the edges, but they'll get there.
Since I'm a UX Designer I might even play around to see how we can improve the apps.
Hey!
Hello, welcome!
