iOS App? (lemmy.world)
submitted 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) by lynny@lemmy.world to c/asklemmy@lemmy.ml

Is there an iOS app that is actually on the app store yet? I know matrix has element, and mastodon has its own app.

Yes, as others have mentioned Mlem is an app for iOS which is currently under development. An early beta is on TestFlight and is currently open for everyone. Be aware that it is an early beta and is not feature-complete.

We're a small team but working hard towards getting the app to 1.0 by July 1 which provides a usable beta in the meantime. So, expect updates changes, etc. in the next few weeks.

You can follow along on lemmy in the Mlem Community and you can also join us in the Mlem Space on Matrix to chat with us!

We're also actively recruiting developers who wish to contribute. More info in this post. Also, feel free to check out the project on GitHub.

Cheers!

Oh wow, thanks for the reply! Good luck, you guys are doing something that can (and at this point, will) have a huge impact on the adoption of the fediverse. Thank you!

Replying from Mlem, keep up the great work!

Will it be possible to log in to kbin even though it's a different technology using the same protocol? Or will it require a different kbin specific app?

i know that the dev team is looking into it, but there are some technical challenges. You're welcome to join the Mlem Space on Matrix and get a better answer from the dev team! (I'm on the creative team and help with communications).

Not yet. You can use mlem but it needs to be installed via TestFlight.

Is there an easy link for installing it with testflight?

Thanks much, though I can't seem to log in using lemmy.world.

It seems to say I successfully logged into lemmy.world, and then says "can't connect to lemmy.world". Weird.

a lot of servers are overloaded right now and are experiencing authentication issues due to an influx of traffic from Reddit. Be patient and maybe try again later.

Just got in through sh.itjust.works

Mlem on iOS TestFlight.

I’m using Mlem through the TestFlight app right now. Not sure how to subscribe to different communities though. Maybe I can subscribe to communities on my computer and it will transfer to the app.

There is mlem on iOS. It’s still in beta though, so you need to sign up for it on Test Flight

Mlem. It’s still in test flight but I got an invite pretty quickly on the site that shall not be named.
