@brianrlawson well them including reproductive rights definitely didn’t help our standing.

everyone my age that I know has either left already or is working towards leaving the state in the next 5 years and I don’t know if it’s going to get better by then to entice the ones still here now to stay.

@brianrlawson To make progress we need to get rid of the corrupt, incompetent, hateful people in the state legislature. But then I go and look at the Indiana Democrats web page and see this, and I despair.

It takes ground game, which is volunteers. All politics is local.

Wow, that's not even on some historical or forgotten side page, that's on their homepage

@brianrlawson
Maybe I'll read the article someday, but still a proud Hoosier and happy to live here. There are certainly problems we need to fix. Let's work together to fix them.

Fun fact hoosier is a pretty derogatory word here in St. Louis Missouri area to refer to a redneck. It's always fun to me seeing it being used in a positive manner to refer to people from Indiana.

@uxia @FERS we don't know what Hoosier means, but damn it if we don't take pride in being called one

I'm a proud Hoosier, too - lived here my whole life. I'm sick to my stomach of what it's become.

Sir this is a Lemmy thread. :)

[–] brianrlawson@midwest.social 1 points 1 year ago

OP here. I follow my Lemmy account on Mastodon and boosted it from that Mastodon account. I suspect that is how it got some cross-pollination.

[–] MaraAlis@hoosier.social 3 points 1 year ago

@brianrlawson well deserved unfortunately 😒

Used to live in Indiana. While I enjoyed some things about that part of my life, sometimes to the point of nostalgia, I'm glad I moved out. The state felt like a shadow of its neighbors.
