I feel like there is a certain kind of dramatic irony hosting a "Buy European" Community on an UK instance?
Edit: I don't mind it, I find it funny in a kinda sad way.

An Irish instance may have been a better fit considering what happened in 2016. But I thought the UK one would be a good candidate because they speak english and they have made recent steps to become closer with the bloc.
On another note the european union flag has been used to represent the whole continent, so it would still make sense hehe.
Lemm.ee or sopuli.xyz could have worked too (feddit.org is more German-speaking, and Jlai.lu French speaking). But I agree, feddit.uk is also a good choice.
It's all part of my master plan to convince the British to rejoin the European Union.
Are you under the impression the UK moved continents?
I like the premise, but I'm thinking about what content you would want posted here?
Like "ads" naming good European products, or more asklemmy threads where someone asks for product to fit a need? Another option could even be news about the general European market
Good question. I'm thinking more like about asking when looking for products. I find it quite hard to figure out if a product was actually manufactured in the EU or if it was just engineered here and then manufactured by the usual suspects (China etc). So for me at least people having suggestions for European products could be quite a big help.
I'm glad you like the concept :) Would you like to moderate the community as well? As we're in need of a german.
It can be all 3 of those things. But the goal is to buy as much local as possible, to support the fellow european workers to foster self-sufficiency and innovation within the continent.
Folks from feddit.nl, feddit.it, feddit.dk, feddit.nu, feddit.org, lemmy.eus and lemmy.pt are welcome to apply for moderator roles.

The GitHub issue does seem like it could be patched soon in 0.20
