That's how it works in communities that don't trust cops, too. Our old folks (our village elders) keep an eye on things and make sure we stay safe all across the world. I mean if you ask me, its something we should lean into and embrace. Fuck a neighborhood watch association. We don't need to snitch to cops. We already can keep our neighborhoods safe without them

My trust in police is generally low because they fail to address the actual crime sometimes, but it's not that low to depend on people snitching my every move when I'm out and about.

I mean, if Google and other large data collectors would disappear overnight, the advertisers could simply ask these people anything about me, and get a reliable amount of data (half /s).

Just all of Europe, really. Like in my country, along the coast, you'll find these small mirrors mounted on houses, facing a certain direction.

These mirrors are called snitch mirrors.

Dumb meme that tells that babushkas know everything in the neighborhood.

It's dumb because eastern europe is turning into a totalitarian shithole much faster than the UK and the US

Doesn't mean it's all turning into a surveillance state like western countries, which this meme is about. Totalitarian shithole yeah, CCTVs no, the romanians crossed the borders and stole all of them.

@possiblylinux127 Some eldery people like to stay and watch the world go by, then gossip around about what happens in every single detail. If you live there, they also like to ask questions about every thing they notice, to the point it just gets super annoying (e.g. Who is that person you brought here last night? Where do they live? Where are they working? Etc.).

Also see the other comments for examples.
