Eluveitie did a song with Wigald Boning once for German 3sat. They are very well known.

It's the number of views for each bands (as it is one band per country). It's not a map population of Spotify accounts, otherwise you would see Mexico in much darker green for instance (and Australia less dark)

Of course Japan has Baby Metal as their top Metal band.
And I'm a huge fan of Within Temptation. If I could only recommend one song for this entire graphic, its A Demons Fate by Within Temptation

Nice map, but crazy how few (IMHO) good one are also the most famous.
There is so much good metal from Germany, but of course ramm- we hate women and love violence fkin -stein (who isnt even metal but "deutsche härte" and plays with nationalist pictures) is most famous.
List of ones I (personally) like:
Parkway drive, jinjer, the hu, bloodywood
Also respect for the ancients (metallica, etc.) just not my personal taste.

Edit: I'm not a metal fan and not attempting to gate keep. As an outsider, it's definitely notable that almost all the bands have names that meet expectations and a couple certainly do not.
Why the downvotes? These are funny names.
I'm downvoting for specifically picking out Parkway Drive as if it's not clearly Australia's best metal band.

They've been doing less since the lead singer, Freddy, became a member of Parliament, but they've got some bangers. I used to listen to Supreme Pain for the Tyrant on repeat.
