Hello all! I've been a Christopher Nolan fan since I saw Inception for the first time, but I'm also starting to see the flaws in his film making, especially in the way women are represented. This is especially clear in Oppenheimer, as this movie is based on actual facts and still he clearly under develops the female characters compared to their real life counterparts. I feel that this article gives a good and nuanced take on the issue and helped me reconcile the stuff I adore in his films with the clearly flawed and problematic parts.

I still have zero fucking clue why that weird sex scene had to be included in Oppenheimer.

Maybe Nolan wanted to watch them do the thing? But...Probably to show how uncomfortable both Oppenheimer and his wife were in those moments, by making the audience uncomfortable as well.

I'm pretty liberal about nudity and I'm not puritanical in my views at all, but I'm also not a fan of raunchy scenes in movies. Watching something like that alone or with my husband? Fine. Watching something like that with blood relatives or friends? Yeah. Not fine

I think the worst one has to be Tenet. Only one important character is a woman (the wife) and she spent the majority of the time being abused by the Russian....its very uncomfortable and I say it as a Nolan fan.

I thought the main female characters were quite well developed, especially his wife.
