welcome to the weekly how's your week going thread

this thread is a pretty straightforward and relaxed one for giving updates on how your week is going and chat like that. nothing special

on my front: last week was total chaos, so hoping for things to calm down this week because it is completely fucking up my groove; unfortunately reddit is not making that easy. this is also not ideally timed for my emotional state. anyways, read book 20 for the year (America City by Chris Beckett). on book 21. maybe i'll marathon through a bunch of these in between keeping the site from being on fire

Overall, it's a good start. I'm making progress in the garden, I started playing around with Linux (making this comment from a Manjaro VM, wanted to test it out before I install it to a drive) and the weather has been great.

Work-wise is dreadful. A lot of people got laid off recently, and while I am one of the lucky few to remain, it has sent my stress levels through the roof trying to keep things operational. I don't want to jump ship and leave the other remaining devs in an even worse position though, so I'll be seeing it through until I'm sent to the chopping block.

Sorry to hear about the work-related troubles. I hope things get better!

On another note: trying out Linux distros is a joy that I know well! I hope it brings you a tremendous amount as well.

Thanks! I tried out Mint years ago, and I can't remember what it was that pushed me back to Windows. A lot has changed since then (for Linux and for me) so I thought it was worth giving it another go. Manjaro is great so far though.

I’ve used mint before! I was a big fan of mint’s look and feel, but it’s been a while. I also liked that it was Debian-based but a little easier to get into than other distros.

I’ve never tried Manjaro, but I’ve heard good things. That’s Arch right?

It is Arch, it is supposed to be a more user-friendly experience. I think I'd agree with that too, it works just as well as Mint out of the box, maybe even a little better.
