Yes, funeral papyrus.
The man's name was Hor (Horace). That's not a joke. Joseph Smith was that far off base.
@TempleSquare @figaro@lemmy.world The official excuse is that the papyrus "inspired" the revelation, despite multiple claims that it was a direct translation.
Not that there needs to be a smoking gun, but if anyone was looking for one to prove mormonism is a fraud, this is a big one.
@figaro John Dehlin and Radio Free Mormon did a ridiculously in-depth interview with an archaeologist named Dr. Robert Ritner on this very subject. It's long, but worth a watch. I'll link it when I have a moment to find it.
Edit: Sorry, he was an Egyptologist, not an archaeologist. (Does Lemmy support post editing?)
