A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/community@instance.com)

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

!community@instance.com

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

EDIT:

A shrewd lemming pointed out that these friendly communities might not be as friendly as I hoped, because they have shit in their names due to them being on sh.itjust.works.

On the one hand, we’re just getting started, so it’s easy to move elsewhere, but on the other hand, there’s already almost a dozen subscribers, so it’s better to leave it be.

Either way, I have created

!kidsbeingderps@lemmy.world and !kidsbeingsmart@lemmy.world

I request you to kindly subscribe to those communities.

Original Post:

spoiler~~ I've always hesitated to show/share any posts from the /r/kidsarefuckingstupid and /r/kidsarefuckingsmart subreddits with my kid because of the name, so I given the chance to recreate them, I created them with friendlier names. All are welcome to contribute and participate and make them great places.

!kidsarederpy@sh.itjust.works

https://sh.itjust.works/c/kidsarederps

!kidsaresmart@sh.itjust.works

https://sh.itjust.works/c/kidsaresmart

!kidsarekids@sh.itjust.works

https://sh.itjust.works/c/kidsarekids

and finally,

!kids@sh.itjust.works

https://sh.itjust.works/c/kids

Wouldn't sh.itjust.works be just as bad as fucking?

Yeah...might be better from a tamer instance, lemmy.ml or beehaw or something. 🙃

beehaw would be the perfect place for it, but they're not gonna create communities until July. May be I can try lemmy.ml. I wanted to be here because it seems to be the best of both worlds (lemmy's anarchism vs beehaw's restrictions).
